Doing more with less

Doing more with less

'Doing more with less' is a challenge that almost every Development Cooperation organisation is facing. That means Yente as well. On 1 February, during the busy meeting in Houten, we looked toward the future with our Friends and relations. That afternoon, board member Janet Poot presented Yente's stepping stone plan below for the coming 3  x  5 years. An ambitious vision that shows how we wish to continue shaping the mission for which we stand - connecting and strengthening the entrepreneurship of women worldwide.

In the seven years that Yente has existed, we have been able to lay down a solid foundation. We continue to build on that foundation, never losing sight of our aim, with the engagement and enthusiasm that is so characteristic of Yente. Our vision that was presented on 1 February will guide us through the tangible activities that we wish to develop in 2011 and beyond. At the end of this month, in the Yente newsletter, we hope to inform our Friends and relations of our action strategies. Much will revolve around joining forces and mutuality, with the web community MYente as the connecting link among women entrepreneurs in 15 countries.

Social entrepreneurship for women

Much more inspiring than these organizational perils are our true aims - the women entrepreneurs in developing countries to which Yente is committed. Last summer a few wonderful, short film portraits were made of entrepreneurs from Peru who had been invited in 2009 by Yente to participate in the trade mission to the Netherlands. One of the entrepreneurs is Yuli Torres Garcia, a true 'agent of change' in the most convincing sense of the word (click here for a video). Yuli provides a large group of women handicraft workers in Ayacucho with work and income. Yente is offering Yuli assistance along the way and is proud of being able to support her.
