In the beginning of 2010 the ICCO alliance (in which Yente operates as a partner) pointed out that it would be useful if Yente were to join two other alliance partners who are already active in Ethiopia for many years. The Ethiopian government wants to encourage entrepreneurship and the Ethiopians themselves, with their entrepreneurial spirit, will certainly turn that endeavour to good use. At the same time, they have had to deal with a past in which the whole business world was run by the government causing a backlog in the areas of education, training and technology.

Yente immediately responded to the request by involving Ethiopian networks and women entrepreneurs in its activities. In the autumnof 2010 Yente invited an Ethiopian woman entrepreneur, Martha Getachew, to take part in the ETFAM (Ethical and Fair Trade Market Place) in Eindhoven. In November 2010, Nigest Haile, the Ethiopian coordinator for the Centre for African Women's Economic Empowerment, participated in the Yente mission to South Africa. This year we developed an extensive research concerning the context of women entrepreneurs in Ethiopia and Yente's opportunities there. The end conclusion of the research was that women entrepreneurs greatly need Yente's programmes. Just like Peru, Bolivia and South Africa, they are highly interested in exchanging information with each other and with other women entrepreneurs worldwide.
In 2012 we will make a careful start by promoting MYente via organizations that are active in Ethiopia, among which the fellow alliance partners within ICCO. We hope that in coming years we will have more financial leg room so that in time other Yente programmes will be unfurled in Ethiopia.
