These supplements are also given the name multivitamins. They give some nutrients that are also found in food. They are available in different forms, such as powders, pills, liquids and chewable tablets.

A multivitamin contains

  • Minerals- minerals include, copper, zinc, calcium, magnesium, selenium, iron, potassium and phosphorous.
  • Others contain substances that are not either vitamins or minerals, which include ingredients such as antioxidants lutein and lycopene.

Why do people take supplements?

The very best and healthy way of getting vitamins and minerals is by taking them through the food we eat. Ensure to eat foods that are rich in the minerals and vitamins the body requires. However, it becomes difficult for even people who observe the rule of taking a balanced diet to get all vitamins and minerals the body needs.
